The Science of "Blank Canvas": Why Background Saturation Matters
Nano Brows are designed to mimic real, individual brow hairs. Unlike shaded or block-powder techniques, they rely on negative space—the natural, unpigmented skin showing through between strokes—to create depth and realism.
1. Faded Work (>5 Years Old)
If your old cosmetic tattoo is over 5 years old or has faded significantly (retaining less than 20% saturation), we can often apply Nano Brows directly without prior removal.
However, reshaping options remain constrained:
The 90% Rule: To maintain aesthetic balance, your new design must align with your previous shape by at least 90%.
The "Double-Tail" Trap: Attempting to dramatically alter the tail or arch without removing old background pigment leaves a lingering shadow. As you move or tilt your head, this secondary shadow creates a double-tail or "forked" appearance.
2. Dense or Dark Old Work
If your old tattoo is still saturated, dark brown, or black, tattooing new hairstrokes over it will fail to produce depth. The fresh strokes simply merge into the existing dark field, leaving your brows looking heavier and darker than before. In these cases, clearing the canvas is essential.

Osmotic Lifting: The solution binds with the stubborn pigment molecules, triggering an osmotic reaction that draws the light orange/yellow particles up to the surface of the skin, where they are shed naturally inside a light micro-crust.
